In a video posted to Facebook, police in England and Wales have used an ‘improved’ motion capture device to catch an alleged paedophile.
The footage shows police using a ‘laser pointer’ to locate a man who has been filmed using the device in a public park.
Officers in Birmingham have also used the device to capture footage of a man they believe is responsible for a spate of rapes in a nearby park.
Police have also released CCTV footage from the park, and are appealing for anyone with any information to contact police.
A spokesperson for the Birmingham police said the force was ‘disappointed’ that the public had not been notified of the incident.
‘The police will continue to use all the tools at their disposal to identify and arrest anyone who is responsible,’ they said.’
Any and all information will be shared with the public and any potential witnesses will be contacted and interviewed.’
The force is urging anyone who has video or video evidence of anyone using a motion capture camera to contact them.
Anyone with information about this or other crimes is urged to call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
